Basics of Hindi Language
Hindi is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, primarily used in India and across the Indian subcontinent. As an Indo-Aryan language, it belongs to the larger Indo-European language family. Hindi evolved from the ancient Sanskrit language, passing through stages such as Prakrit and Apabhramsha before reaching its current form.
Modern Standard Hindi is based on the Khari Boli dialect spoken in Delhi and surrounding areas, but its regional varieties and dialects, such as Awadhi, Braj, and Bhojpuri, add richness to the linguistic landscape.
Hindi is written in Devanagari alphabet, the same script used to write Sanskrit, Marathi, and Nepali. Hindi language contains 36 consonants and 14 vowels. Hindi numbers follow the decimal point numerical system just like in English.
